Culture Factory Officially Announces the Christine Dudley Public Art Project
Last night at an evening of Music, Art and Wine, Culture Factory officially announced the beginning of a new project: The Christine Dudley Public Art Project. This project is particularly close to the hearts of many people involved with Culture Factory as Christine was one of the co-founders of CK on the Edge – the organization that created Culture Factory. Christine Dudley passed away unexpectedly last year.
Christine believed that art could transform a community and set her sights on public art for Chatham-Kent. She visited communities that already had public art as part of their urban landscape and she saw how it added to the community’s vibrancy. She was prepared to take on the challenge of transforming Chatham-Kent. In her memory, a small group of friends and colleagues will make that dream a reality.
As part of yesterday evening’s events, Culture Factory invited local celebrities to create an original piece of artwork to be auctioned off to the highest bidders during a live auction. Proceeds from this event will help to kick-start the fundraising efforts so that the first piece can be installed in a downtown Chatham location next spring
In order to realize this project, more proceeds will need to be raised. If you are interested in contributing to the project or would like more information about the project please contact publicartproject@culturefactory.ca
